COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
Work in Blair, Nebraska
Looking for a creative communicator to effectively represent the company’s products and services with media and advertising materials.

Duties include:

•             Acting as a strategic, creative copywriter and customer communications resource for all written materials, including but not limited to website, collateral, press releases, brochures, direct mail, print, radio and television copy
•             Producing and pitching press releases to media outlets
•             Creating and managing the Social Media aspect of marketing for Great Plains Communications, GPC-TV and GPC-TV.net
•             Web Research and Reporting

Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years public relations, social media, writing and blogging experience desired.  Successful candidate must possess computer skills, including Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Strong organizational skills, communication skills, both written and verbal, and customer relations skills also required.  Must be able to work nights and weekends when necessary, including overnight or multiple-day travel, and lift up to 70 pounds.  Valid driver’s license is required.

BROADBAND TECHNICIAN
Work in St Edward, Nebraska area
Looking for an energetic, detail-oriented person to fill the position of Broadband Technician in the St Edward, Nebraska area.  Three to five years telephone, cable TV, and internet installation and maintenance experience desired.  Must have knowledge of basic electronics, key systems, test equipment, cable color code, DSL modems, routers, and networking.  Successful candidates must also have the ability to interpret staking sheets, maps, work orders, and cable counts, and splice cable as needed.  Basic computer skills, and excellent communication and customer relation skills are a must.  Must possess a valid driver’s license, CDL license preferred, and the ability to dig ditches, climb ladders and poles, and lift up to 50 pounds as necessary. 

SYSTEMS ANALYST I & II
Work in Blair, Nebraska
We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented people to provide support for company IT computing systems at our headquarters in Blair, Nebraska.   
Duties include:

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining the hardware and software for PCs, servers, and relevant local area network components
  • Ensuring systems are configured and supported in a secure, efficient, reliable, and cost-effective manner throughout their production life cycle
  • Providing technical leadership, technical support, and customer service for IT-related problems across all company operating entities
  • Ensuring applications are properly installed and maintained, and all essential information and data files are backed up on a regular basis

Successful candidates must be knowledgeable of the hardware and software environment of Windows-based workstations and servers; Linux, VMWare, and Citrix; network infrastructure, IP schemes, and VLANS; and basic scripting.  Must be able to research technical problems and find or create appropriate solutions.  Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and customer service skills required.  Must be able to lift 35-50 pounds and work non-standard hours as necessary.  Associates degree in computer science, computer information systems, telecommunications, or similar area, plus 3-5 years IT support experience desired for Systems Analyst I position.  Bachelors degree, 5-8 years of system administrator support experience, and management/supervisory skills desired for Systems Analyst II position.

SEASONAL CONSTRUCTION LABORERS

Great Plains Underground Construction, based in Creighton, Nebraska, is looking for seasonal laborers to install communication and utility infrastructures.  Must be able to operate construction equipment and tools, including trenchers, backhoes, skid loaders, tractors, and trucks.  Must also be able to dig and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.  Various work hours and weekly travel required.  Valid driver’s license is a must.  CDL license desired.  EOE.  Submit resume to:

VIDEO QUALITY ENGINEER
Work in Blair, Nebraska

We are looking for a detail-oriented person to fill the position of Video Quality Engineer.  Duties include monitoring CATV headend and IP transport equipment using remote monitoring systems, and assisting in installation and maintenance of CATV headend and plant repairs.  Two year technical degree along with three to five years experience preferred.  A certification of Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is also desired.

Successful candidate must be knowledgeable in IP networking, broadband engineering, CATV/video install and repairs, electronics, and fiber optic equipment.  Basic computer skills, and excellent communication and customer relation skills are a must.  Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel for several days in a row.  Must also be able to lift up to 20 pounds and periodically climb ladders.

IP NETWORK ENGINEER III
Work in Blair, Nebraska

We are looking for a senior-level IP Network Engineer III. The successful candidate will bring experience with designing IP networks, performing network management functions, initiating and managing new projects, performing problem management for the IP networks, and providing support to Central Office, Outside Plant, and NOC personnel as needed for broadband carrier, transport, and CPE equipment.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Management, Computer Systems Networking, Telecommunications, or Engineering, along with 5-7 years of experience in telecommunications is desired, as well as 10 or more years experience in the management of data networking equipment. A Cisco Certified Internetwork Engineer (CCIE) certification is required. Microsoft and security certifications are also desired.

You must possess strong PC skills (Microsoft Windows and Office, as well as Linux OS), be highly knowledgeable in IP networking and security, and have the ability to configure and install routers, switches, firewalls, remote access servers, DPI equipment, and network management software. You must have the ability to manage/manipulate network traffic, create and edit code in different programming languages, use multiple routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), and display experience with project management. High attention to detail, customer relations skills, excellent communication skills, and strong analytical and organizational skills are essential.
